Job purpose

Under the direct supervision of the Regional Head of Operational Information Management, the incumbent will support all OIM & PR activities in the region operating with a high degree of independence. The job holder is likely to be involved in activities and analytical work of high complexity and contribute to Operational Information Management and Performance Reporting improvement.

Accountabilities/responsibilities

  • Support the unit provide strategic advice, guidance and oversight to RB and country offices on integrating OIM and PR policies to drive the quality, consistency and standardization of information management and performance reporting in the region and ensure adherence to corporate guidance.
  • Support the enhancement of the capacity of WFP staff and partners to manage operational information and performance reporting effectively through relevant OIM & PR training.
  • Review and edit country office operational reports such as country briefs and situation reports; prepare regional operational updates and other reports as requested and ensure all reporting products meet WFP reporting standards for internal and external audiences.
  • Support the coordination of the Annual Country Reports (ACR) process in collaboration with country offices, Regional Bureau technical teams, and Headquarters teams to ensure high quality and timely reporting to donors on results achieved and resources used.
  • Work very closely with M&E colleagues to track performance and results across the countries to ensure results are reported against the Country’s Strategic Plans and chair the ACR working group.
  • Provide strategic support to the RB management to enhance WFP’s positioning and advocacy through the development of regular information products, which enhance the visibility of accomplishments and innovation approaches in the region.
  • As required, during emergencies, support country offices in the preparation of emergency sitreps, organize and provide secretarial support to Operational Task Forces (OTFs).
  • Facilitate information sharing and collaboration across the team and the region and implement tools and platforms that enable secure and effective sharing of information, knowledge, and best practices within the region.
  • Regularly collate internal and external information pertinent to the unit and contribute to the information needs of other stakeholders.
  • Facilitate the capture and documentation of explicit knowledge within the team and COs, and develop processes and systems to capture, organize, and store knowledge assets such as documents, reports, lessons learned, and best practices.
  • Contribute to maintaining the centralized knowledge repository where knowledge assets are stored and easily accessible.
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Qualifications and experience

Education

Advanced University degree (Master’s degree equivalent, BAC+4/5), recognized by https://www.whed.net/home.php) in Political Science, Economics, Statistics, Information Management or Journalism, Business Management, Social Sciences or other relevant field, or First University degree (Bachelor’s degree equivalent, BAC +3) with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.

Experience: At least five years or more of postgraduate professional-level experience in a relevant field of work such as data analysis, monitoring and reporting with a background and interest in international humanitarian development.

Languages: Fluency (level C) in English and B1 level in French. Knowledge of any other UN language is an advantage.

Knowledge and skills

  • High capacity for organization and coordination, as well as an ability to work with a high degree of independence in a team environment.
  • Capacity to produce high-quality products when working under pressure and with competing deadlines.
  • Ability to adjust own communication style to different internal and external
    audiences and purposes.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English, including
    substantive analysis and report writing skills. Excellent public speaking and presentation skills.
  • Able to supervise and support more junior and/or less experienced team
    members.
  • Ability to work in a team and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds.
  • Flexibility in accepting work assignments outside normal desk description.
