Key accountabilities (not all-inclusive)

The job holder will support the following duties:

Support the resilience programme management and coordination in tracking of resilience-building activities in the region (19 countries) to facilitate information-sharing between Country Offices (COs), RBD, and HQ. More specifically:

  • In close collaboration with COs, support the accurate and timely reporting on programmes and activities to meet specific reporting requirements of donors.
  • Provide support to COs during key reporting exercises
  • Contribute to maintaining and enhancing data gathering and monitoring systems ensuring that rigorous quality standards are maintained.
  • Support the collation, analysis and communication of the ‘Essential Elements of Information’, pertaining to the operational environment in order to facilitate access to timely and accurate information used at country, regional and corporate level.
  • Support the preparation of reports related to Resilience and Livelihoods by coordinating to ensure coherence and quality of performance information.
  • Collaborate with counterparts internally (for example Communication, Advocacy and Marketing (CAM) units) to ensure consistency in humanitarian information and to complement WFP analysis and information.
  • Support the enhancement of the capacity of WFP staff and partners to effectively manage operational information and performance reporting, for example through scheduling the delivery of trainings on core reporting requirements.
  • Draft inputs for briefings, talking points or presentations to support donor engagement and inform decision-making and planning of WFP management.
  • Produce and support COs in developing external donor, advocacy and communication products to demonstrate the impact of and advocate for resilience-building activities in the region.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Standard minimum qualifications

  • Education: Advanced university degree Postgraduate in one or more of the following disciplines: Social Sciences, Public Policy and Administration, Agriculture, Environmental Science, and rural development or other field relevant to international development assistance related OR First University degree in the same fields with additional years of related work experience and/or training/courses.
  • Experience: One (1) year of postgraduate professional work experience, with a background in international humanitarian development OR Two (2) years or more postgraduate professional experience for holders of a first university degree.
  • Language: Fluency (level C), both written and oral in French and English.

Desired knowledge and skills

Proficiency in Windows, MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and experience in using geographic information systems as well as publication software (e.g. MS Publisher) is an advantage.
Good analytical skills; resourcefulness, initiative, maturity of judgement, tact, negotiating skills; ability to communicate clearly both orally and in writing; ability to work in a team, and establish effective working relations with persons of different national and cultural backgrounds.
